During the early 19th century, Boqueròn was home of pirates.

Today Boqueron is known for it's beautiful beaches, fresh oysters and for the Boqueron Wildlife Refuge which attracts bird watchers from all over the world.

At night the main strip in Boqueròn is closed to traffic. Fresh seafood vendors proudly display their oysters and the bar / restaurants are open offering local traditional food to the sound of live bands.

I am not happy to say that the locals need to change their attitude about trash disposal. The morning after the typical Boqueròn nightlife, you will find "barrenderos" with their broom cleaning up and collecting trash from the road.
